We're all familiar with Reddit a.k.a. the front page of the Internet. We all have at least 1 Reddit community that we frequently visit. We all know why. Reddit offers tons of entertaining communities to follow with a steady stream of high quality content.

However, a lot of us never consider Reddit as a great place to learn something  new about Magento or eCommerce in general. That's why I wanted to highlight some of the most useful Reddit communities that any Magento professional should follow. These offer exceptional educational opportunities and allow you to solve even the most complicated issues with the help of Reddit's hive mind.

reddit icon /r/PHP

One of the biggest PHP communities online with over 40,000 subscribers. It boast an engaging audience of very helpful and informed redditors, who are there to help you with your pPHP issues. With tons of latest updates and the technology stack for Magento 2 - this can definitely become the place to go, if you want to advance your development skills and/or solve ongoing problems with PHP, Zend Framework or other PHP-related products.

reddit icon /r/PHPHelp

If /r/php is 7-Eleven - convenient, simple and has all of the basic stuff that you need, then /r/phphelp is Costco - one-stop shop for all of your PHP needs that has a very dedicated community, aimed at making your programming easier. You go here, if you have a very specific PHP problem to take care of and you don't have any other means of getting it done. If you need a quick solution - this community can be really helpful. But remember to participate in it yourself. As it's a smaller subreddit, it relies heavily on its community and the engagement that it's able to build.

reddit icon /r/Magento

This is the biggest Magento community on Reddit aimed towards Magento developers and business owners that want to 'take care' of their Magento by themselves. It's also a great place for eCommerce professionals, who simply want to stay in the loop with all of the latest Magento news. Quora or any other Q&A site can't match this subreddit. It's also great for Magento newbies, who are looking for basic practical Magento tips. This community is not here to judge. It's here to help you out.

reddit icon /r/eCommerce

It's a great place for anyone involved in eCommerce. It offers a platform for anyone, struggling in eComerce, to request help from more experienced online business professionals. It also features some of the latest business and platform-specific news. Even if you're a Magento developer, who works strictly with this platform - it never hurts to learn more about the business side of running a Magento store. Plus it offers an insight into other eCommerce platforms, their advantages and disadvantages. It's good to learn what you're up against.

reddit icon /r/Apache

Apache is an important part of the Magento technology stack and if your attempts at trying to fix an issue with it failed - this is a good destination to ask for advise. It's also a nice place to contribute your Apache knowledge, if you feel like you have the right expertise. The community is very helpful. However, it's not very active, so maybe you could be the one to liven it up.

reddit icon /r/MySQL

A surprisingly active community of MySQL enthusiasts that are very eager to share their knowledge about this database product. It hosts useful MySQL case studies, practical tips and informative solutions for MySQL issues. You can also find some easy database performance and management hacks, shared by the community members.

reddit icon /r/Solr

This is probably one of the best eCommerce search engine solutions, which is part of the Magento 2 technology stack. The community is largely dormant at this point, with not that many posts and just a couple of hundred subscribers. But it's worth following, because as more people switch to Magento 2, you can expect them to be more interested in Solr and its capabilities.

reddit icon /r/Web_Design

Yes, this subreddit might not be directly related to your line of work, especially if you're a developer or a business owner. But this community is pretty important, as it provides insights into the side of web development that you might not be familiar with - website design. If you're a business owner - it's very useful, if you want to stay on top of the latest UX/UI trends.

Communities below feature important Magento technologies that you might consider following too. Almost all of them are in triple digits with their subscriber count, so you'll always find relevant and useful information there.
