But what about Magento 2? What's the situation with point of sale solutions for the latest iteration of the biggest eCommerce platform? 

Unfortunately, the current lineup of Magento 2 POS extensions is limited, to say the least. In fact, there's only a handful of providers, who offer a solution at this point. Mainly because POS integration requires complex coding and Magento 2 is relatively new. It's expensive to develop POS solutions for Magento 2. But, the situation is getting better.

Magento 2 POS Extension by MageStore

This is the first Magento 2 POS extensions/ product that entered the market. And it's setting a pretty high bar for any other existing and upcoming products in this category. It's also integrated with other Magestore products, so you won't have any trouble adding new functionality. It offers a very intuitive interface that's compatible with the majority of mobile devices, which, in turn, offers a more flexible variety of implementation options. This is very convenient for stores that might experience a high return rate. The feature allows you to credit the customer's account. These funds, in turn, can be used for purchases in your physical locations and your online store.

It includes all of the suite features, previously available in the Magento 1 version. Other solutions in this niche are likely to have similar features in order to compete with this product. One of the biggest advantages of this product is the fact that it offers integration with other Magestore extensions. And they offer some great unique solutions for Magento stores. The downside is the fact that compared to other products in this category - it's pretty expensive. But given that it's the fullest solution out there - the price is justified.

Magento 2 POS by MagePlaza

Another great extension and currently the only other product, available in this category. It may seem like it's copying features of the product that we described before, but in reality it simply offers similar functionality. It's also much cheaper, but it doesn't mean that it won't satisfy your POS integration requirements. 

They also offer free lifetime support, which is a very interesting option. Although it also says that the free support is actually available for 1 year - in a different piece of text on the extension page. We highly recommend you to contact the developer directly to find out more about the actual support packages available.

On the other hand, there aren't that many details available right from the bat - there's no demo, no screenshots and no customer reviews, although it says there are actually 12 of them.

The feature list is practically identical to the product details, available with MageStore's product. This makes us think that they simply created a competitive clone, based on the functionality that's already been available with its competitor. There's nothing wrong in that - there are tons of products that copy functions from each other. It only makes the competitive scene better. We recommend you to check out this solution, as it offers a more affordable option for your store. You can also ask the developer for a demo.

Magento 2 POS by ConnectPOS

ConnectPOS is another high-speed Magento POS that can be easily installed on and connect to Magento using API. After successfully installed, it will start synchronizing the data between POS and Magento, to ensure the consistency among channels, in real time.
